Behavior Rewards
"Get
Caught Being Good"
I believe it
is a more
effective strategy to "catch students being good" and reward their
positive behavior than to constantly give attention to bad behavior.
Thus I use a system to reward those students who consistently work
hard, respect their classmates and respect the classroom environment.
The students are given a "caught being good" ticket any time I see them following our 3 golden rules.
The students may collect the tickets and use them to "purchase" rewards.

TAKE
FIVE!
Occasionally even wonderful, bright and well behaved students have bad
days. When frustration sets in and verbal warnings do not produce
positive changes in behavior, I may opt to send a student to our "Take
Five" table so that he or she has private time to regroup. The student
sets the timer for 5 minutes. When it goes off, he or she look at me
for a thumbs up to return to the group.
