Behavior Rewards

"Get Caught Being Good"

I believe it is a more effective strategy to "catch students being good" and reward their positive behavior than to constantly give attention to bad behavior. Thus I use a system to reward those students who consistently work hard, respect their classmates and respect the classroom environment. The students are given a "caught being good" ticket any time I see them following our 3 golden rules.
The students may collect the tickets and use them to "purchase" rewards.

Behavior Consequences

First time a student breaks a rule:     Warning
Second time:
Take 5 !
Third time: lose 15 minutes of an activity and have a talk with our Assistant Principal Ms. Colfield
Fourth time: Call parents
Severe Clause: Send to Principal

TAKE FIVE!

Occasionally even wonderful, bright and well behaved students have bad days. When frustration sets in and verbal warnings do not produce positive changes in behavior, I may opt to send a student to our "Take Five" table so that he or she has private time to regroup. The student sets the timer for 5 minutes. When it goes off, he or she look at me for a thumbs up to return to the group.

Thank you for your cooperation!
